Word Lens →
By now everyone has seen Word Lens. I love it. I really respect the hardcore image recognition, image replacement, translation, and all in realtime. When more languages become available, this bad boy will really by the burner.

Google Analytics Unreliable?
I’m shocked to even think about saying this, but Google Analytics (GA) has been unreliably reporting application statistics since last week to one of RjDj’s heavily trafficked properties. It reports pages which do not exist in the app (and in fact identifiably belong to unrelated and foreign accounts), and events which either do not belong to our app, or have nonsensical values (in the...

Soundtrack to Your Life (STYL) Subculture?
Last Thursday night was the RjDj Holiday Party. This annual event inevitably prompts reflection of how the year went, the crazy stories that happened to us, what will happen in the future, and naturally also a lot of philosophical bullshitting. Some highlights from 2010 (in no particular order): The Rj Voyager code was held hostage for several days. iPads can be expensive to import if done...

RjDj: Günter Geiger - Echolon
Echolon by Günter Geiger is one of my favourite RjDj scenes, not because it is some technical tour-de-force or an artistic masterpiece, but because it is so simple and yet so addicting. Echolon is a bundled scene in the RjDj player and has become the most popular scene of all time. The basic effect is one that echos your surroundings around you, pitching everything up and down. You hear different...

Inception - The App Clears 1,000,000 Downloads
In my last post about Inception - The App I talked about how I wasn’t sure what would happen with the app. The concept of context-aware reactive music was probably too “out there” for most people, no one would understand it, download numbers would be small, and the app would attract a small-but-loyal following of hardcore movie fans and ambient music aficionados. But after a...

“You know, there are millions of deaf people out there who would give anything to...”
– I like this quote because it highlights the fact that while RjDj doesn’t do so much for deaf people, unsurprisingly we have many blind fans. http://www.boingboing.net/2010/12/10/music-apps-killed-th.html#comment-964697

Inception - The App
Today Remote Control Productions, RjDj, and Warner Brothers (aliases of Hans Zimmer, Michael Breidenbrücker, and Christopher Nolan) release their first collaboration and a project which I am particularly proud of having been a part of. Download it here for the iPhone, and check out the website here. This app may or may not be the first ever context-aware reactive music experience, but it is...

hyperventilating
Chris: Dude I am so excited about that NASA announcement I am hyperventilating. What do you think it's gonna be? Microbial life on Mars? Something related to the recent Rhea oxygen/co2 discoveries?
Me: Mars is the obvious candidate. Rhea, possible, but something on Titan with its frozen oceans could work as well. I give an outside chance to radio evidence being discovered by SETI itself.
Me: But yes, you're right, this thing could be bigger than Wikileaks!
Chris: Whoa, radio evidence! I did not even think of that. I kind of think they would be making a bigger deal though if it was that. Or maybe not, I don't know. Yeah those Saturnian moons have been turning up all kinds of awesomeness. I really wish they would send a probe to Ceres! I have a good feeling about that dwarf planet.
